IN PHOTOS: On or about 3:30 PM of January 20, 2023, police cadets of MASIDTALAK Class of 2023 from Malolos, Bulacan conducted an information drive at Jaime J. Vistan High School, Plaridel, Bulacan.

To inspire the students of Jaime J. Vistan High School, the cadets shared with the students through their personal experiences and insights that picking a career is a process that can take some time. Another issue is that a lot of people lack knowledge about various career alternatives, which can make it challenging to choose a course of action. Grades 10 up to Grade 12 are the crucial stage for many children.

Many of the students in this stage are still undecided about their wanted careers. they are having confusion about what they want from their family or relatives wants. Some of the reasons are as stated: They have difficulty in choosing that they might shift someday; they have chosen a career but it is difficult to see themselves enjoying the profession; there is a conflict between what they want and what their parents want; they fear that they might be rejected in the course they are going to take[1]

Many students have limited exposure to different career options and may not be aware of the range of career opportunities available to them. This lack of exposure may result in a lack of knowledge about what they want to do or what career options are available to them. High school students are typically at a stage in life where they have limited life experience, which can make it difficult for them to make informed decisions about their career path. Without the benefit of experience, it can be challenging to understand their interests, strengths, and weaknesses and how they can apply these to a particular career.

As cadets of the Philippine National Police Academy, we have the privilege and responsibility to serve as role models for the youth in our communities. Thus, we recently conducted an information drive to raise awareness on issues such as crime prevention, drug abuse, and cyber safety. Our information drive was designed to be interactive and engaging, with a mix of lectures, group discussions, and interactive games that allowed the high school students to actively participate and learn. We emphasized the importance of good citizenship, respect for the law, and the role that the youth can play in making their communities safer and more secure.

Since the general public is unaware of the services provided by PNPA, we used this as a chance to encourage all students to consider following a different path and joining the long maroon line to become future public safety officers. By promoting the importance of law enforcement and the opportunities available in the PNPA, cadets can attract individuals who are interested in serving their community as police officers.
